Hi! I’m Scout Montgomery, and I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the Pathfinder team this fall as the new Special Education Resource Teacher.
Originally from Platte City, Missouri, I’ve had the joy of living and working in both Savannah and Smithville. I earned my degree in Elementary Education from Northwest Missouri State University, along with minors in Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education, and I also hold a Master’s degree in Reading Instruction.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with students in many different capacities—from daycare with infants and toddlers, to serving as a teacher’s aide with K–12 students, and even as a student instructor at the college level. More recently, I taught Early Childhood Special Education in the Savannah R‑III School District, and for the past several years, I taught Kindergarten and second grade in Smithville. I’m excited to bring these experiences with me as I support learners across grade levels at Pathfinder.
Teaching truly runs in my family—it’s practically in my DNA. My dad is a retired history teacher and coach, and my mom recently retired from teaching ELA. Even my name, Scout, was inspired by the beloved character in To Kill a Mockingbird. Education has always been a huge part of my life, and I’m excited to share that passion with your children.
When I’m not in the classroom, I love spending time with my dog Romeo and my cat Charlemagne. I also enjoy reading, traveling, swimming, and playing basketball and volleyball. Some of my favorite children’s books include Little Women, Anne of Green Gables, Harry Potter, and the Little House series.
I’m genuinely excited about this next chapter at Pathfinder and look forward to partnering with you to support your child’s growth and success. I’ll be sending an email with more information very soon, and in the meantime, please don't hesitate to reach out—I can’t wait to meet each of you!
