Scout Montgomery
Hello! My name is Scout Montgomery, and I am the K–3 Special Education Resource Teacher at Pathfinder Elementary. I am excited to continue supporting our students and partnering with families as we help every child grow and succeed.
I am originally from Platte City, Missouri, and have had the joy of living and working in both Savannah and Smithville. I earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Northwest Missouri State University, along with minors in Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education. I also hold a master's degree in Reading Instruction.
Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work with children in many different roles—from caring for infants and toddlers in daycare to serving as a teacher's aide for K–12 students and even working as a student instructor at the college level. I previously taught Early Childhood Special Education in the Savannah R-III School District and later taught Kindergarten and second grade in Smithville before joining the Pathfinder team as the K–3 Special Education Resource Teacher.
Teaching has always been a big part of my life. Both of my parents were educators—my dad was a history teacher and coach, and my mom taught English Language Arts. Even my name, Scout, was inspired by the beloved character from To Kill a Mockingbird. Their passion for education helped inspire my own love of teaching and supporting students.
When I'm not at school, I enjoy spending time with my dog, Romeo, and my cat, Charlemagne. I also love reading, traveling, swimming, and playing basketball and volleyball. Some of my favorite books include Little Women, Anne of Green Gables, the Harry Potter series, and the Little House books.
I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of the Pathfinder community and look forward to working alongside our amazing students, families, and staff. I am excited for another wonderful year of learning, growth, and success!
